Conservatives Complain on Facebook and Twitter, Yet…

I find it odd and frustrating to see the constant harping by Conservatives and Q followers against the unfair censoring of people like themselves on Facebook and Twitter, yet they make no move to change that dynamic.

Come on people, quit your bitchin’ and actually do something! I know this takes effort, hell, I built my own platform so I knew I could trust the motives and actions of the admins!

There are many alternatives out there, unfortunately, too many.

You name them, they are there. The most successful, so far, is Gab, a Twitter alternative. One of the reasons for their success is lack of meaningful competition from other wannabes. It’s basically either Twitter, or Gab.

Facebook has Many Clones.

Facebook is easier to replicate. Some, like myself, start with a readily available open source foundation and build from there. I do not know any of these people and I have no idea about their motives. Some may well be government run just like Facebook (it is a known data collecting front). Google Plus made a run at Facebook and failed, but that’s just one government data collecting operation competing with another. MySpace had the market to itself before Facebook, but didn’t keep pace, I enjoyed MySpace back in the day.

Of the other guys, some seem funded, some do not. Infinitysn is the next to last player to join the field, it has a look and feel of Google Plus, which could be by design, or happenstance, but, the fact that it seems so close causes me pause. Then there’s Minds and Friendlydb and MeWe and Life 24-7 which is my personal endeavor.

Each competitor has its own bells and whistles and feel, some tout security, but all are just looking for enough ‘people’ to make them viable. A social network is not fun without your friends. And that’s were Facebook has them all beat.

Since there are at least 5 to choose from, if all get some from Facebook, the best anyone could hope for is to find 20% of their friends on a site. If, they can even find their friends! That’s why, until Facebook collapses, no competitive platform will ever become viable.

But, I encourage you to find another platform to learn to love. Fact is, wherever you find your most important friends is where you will finally call home, features are secondary.

Best of luck. (btw, I have accounts on all of the above sites and only use my own).
